ʻIolani Garden is a five-acre property along the Wailuku River in Hilo. The grounds were originally a kamaʻāina family estate; we converted it to event use in 2018, working carefully to preserve the heritage trees (a 90-year-old monkeypod, two old mango).
We host weddings, anniversaries, and corporate retreats from 40 to 220 guests. The tented lawn is our main reception space; the indoor pavilion is rain backup that does not feel like backup. Hilo weather is what it is — we plan for it.
We work with one preferred caterer (a Hilo family operation) and are open to outside vendors with prior approval. The team handles venue logistics, parking, and timeline; we recommend a coordinator for anything over 80 guests.
