I'm Brent Akimseu. I DJ weddings, corporate retreats, and the occasional Waimea ranch reception out of Kailua-Kona. I've been doing this full-time on Hawaiʻi Island since 2016. Before that I was a sound engineer at a Kona resort for six years — that's where I learned how to build a clean PA in a windy outdoor space.
My specialty is the wedding that crosses worlds — kamaʻāina families, mainland in-laws, a few Japanese guests. I'll build a song list with you over a 90-minute call. I read the floor in real time. I won't play 'Cha Cha Slide' unless you tell me to.
I bring full backup gear. I work all of Hawaiʻi Island; I don't fly inter-island. I dress like I respect your wedding, which means a button-up and slacks, not a logo tee.

Brent DJed our Waimea ranch wedding. Outdoor PA in a windy paniolo setting, no issues. The playlist build was collaborative and on-target — he surfaced two songs I'd forgotten I loved and they made the night.

Booked dates are pulled from the vendor's own calendar. If your date is open, you can request a quote — they'll confirm in their reply. Most events lock in 2–6 months ahead in Hawaiʻi; for May–August dates, sooner is safer.
