I'm Kekoa Sumida. I planned my first wedding in 2014 — for my cousin, in her parents' Kīhei backyard, on a budget that should not have been possible. We pulled it off. People are still talking about it. I've done over 200 weddings since.
I do full-service planning, partial planning, and month-of coordination. I do not do day-of-only — Hawaiʻi weddings are too logistics-intensive (vendor coordination, permits, ground transport, neighbor-island guest flow) to walk in cold and run them well.
My approach: I will tell you the truth about what your budget can do. I will tell you when a venue is going to nickel-and-dime you. I will tell you when your aunty's idea is actually the right call. I am opinionated and honest — that is what people pay me for.
Most of my couples find me because I've worked with their photographer, florist, or DJ before. The Maui vendor community is small. We talk. If we work together, you'll see that — your day will run because the people on it have run together fifty times before.
